Castle of San José (Saint Joseph) in Guadalest (Alicante).
XI century fortress, created by Muslims, is located on the rock at the highest part of the village. Had an a very important role throughout in the Middle Ages and in modern age, thanks to its strategic location. The earthquakes of 1644 and 1748 and the bombing it suffered in 1708 in the War of Succession were to blame for its destruction.
